Life as a Heroin Addict " A Mothers Version"

Well the first rehab did not work and they say that it probably wont either. Addicts usually relapse at least on the first try. The fella she was living with well they got married. Yes the damn M word. Two addicts got married for the love of heroin or do they love each other??? as of today I think he loves her, and well she is a female addict doing what it takes to get her smack. Heroin effects girls in a totally different way than guys. From what I understand it is a female drug, it grabs them and it don't want to let go. Guys seem to recover a little easier. Yes a LITTLE. We have had job after job. Lie after LIE, stealing from everyone including her parents. This is from prescription drugs to money and everything in between. They are the best bullshitters on this earth. If you are not wise enough they will bullshit their way in or out of anything. The only criminal charge was a clean needle charge. She was in the Walgreen's parking lot in a town approx 60 minutes from our town. This is the place where a lot of addicts go to get smack. Her now husband came out to the vehicle with "friends" in the backseat mind you. He went to go get clean needles which is a good thing I guess. Well Bre was blue. She had OD'd and no one was doing anything about it until he came out. He freaked out and the pharmacist did CPR on her until the ambulance came and took her to the ER. The cops came to the ER and charged her with having a hypodermic needle. This charge went on for about 2-3 years because she was to get treatment as "punishment" along with a fine and well she had a hard time completing any kind of treatment. Then came all of the suicide attempts. It is so hard to get help for anything, especially when you do not have insurance. And thank god in some sort of freaky way she doesn't qualify for state aid/medicaid because she don't have any children.

First Love & Street Smarts ???

Oh yes the first love. He had been in some trouble. HE is a cute, and nice fella. BUT when all the stuff happened with him OMG. He was arrested in a larger nearby town selling E. He was given a sentence that was very stiff. 12 years. We made trips to the prison to see him because he is the love of her life. He swore to me they NEVER did drugs. She would not even smoke POT. He has always told me that and still will give me the same story. So I believe him. That night she was on her way to see him and could not get a hold of him. So she called his friend to see where he was and he told her to turn around and go home. We live about an hour away. Well that "Friend" set him up which led to his arrest and 12 year sentence. That is when all hell pretty much broke loose. Bre had a great paying job. A new car "that she paid for". She decided to move into her own apartment. It was all great so wethought. What the hell happened from there I will never ever understand. She gave up on the first love and another fella moved in with her. She worked with me at the time. I noticed she was sick a lot. My best friend dropped the biggest bomb shell anyone could ever have dropped. Bre was snorting heroin. OH NO NOT MY BABY!!!!! She just has the flu, I told my friend. Well she knew from her own experience with her daughter. Which the girls never were friends before. They knew each other and didn't like each other much. Well maybe 6 mos went by and Bre asked my friend for help. She took her to a detox and rehab about 2 hours away. It was around Christmas time. We were hoping that we caught this disease in time. It had not been that long and she realized she needed help. I thank god she had someone to go to. She was unaware that we knew about her problem. That is why she went to my friend and she also knew her daughter had the same problem because I helped my friend during all her frustration and agony. Well back to the street smarts. Her First Love must have taught her the ins and outs of the streets because our child has seen more things in her lifetime than a lot of people will ever see. I know lifestyles are different and I do NOT condemn anyone regarding the life style they choose. I just cannot imagine living life on the edge. The way edge. I respect everyone on how they choose life, however I do NOT agree with Illegal activities such as drugs and violence.

The Very Beginning.....

My name is De Ann. I am happily married to the most wonderful man ever Brent. We have a beautiful (soon to be) 24year old daughter. Her name is Bre Ann. We are from a small northern Illinois town. Bre Ann was a healthy baby girl, very smart. I was a stay at home mom and dad had to work. I so much appreciate being able to stay at home. Bre Ann was an honor roll student. She earned lots of awards all the way through high school. She attended every DARE parade our town sponsored. She was extremely anti drug all through school. She wrote essay after essay on being anti drug. We never thought this would happen to us. Not that we are above addiction or anything, just did not think we would ever be in the position we are in now. Heroin DOSENT care what race, gender, fininacial status you are. It will get you even if you try it once. And that is what Bre Ann did. Tried it one time. That was 18ish. She did hang out with what I considered a "rough crowd", we kept our communication open and I randomly drug tested her. Sometimes she knew and sometimes she did not. I chose a hair follicle test which I was able to purchase at Walgreens. It was costly but it gave us a peace of mind and it kept her on her toes. Then she started working. She had to get a work permit because of her age. It was there she met her first love. Ahhh yes, We have 2 different ways to look at this picture. Here it is.... He is 21 and she is 15. Pretty sure of the age but I could be off some. Yep tooo old!!! But thank god he taught her how to be street wise. (understanding this will come later)
